Bahrain Suspends Dine-In Services, Closes Schools Following Detection Of New COVID Strain

Bahrain has announced that it will be temporarily closing down schools and restaurants after authorities have detected a new variant of the coronavirus disease in the country.

Authorities have suspended dine-in services at restaurants and cafes. It has also advised schools to conduct distance learning for the next three weeks as a preventive measure to halt the spread of the new COVID strain, according to an announcement from its health ministry.

Bahrain has yet to identify which strain it has detected in the country.

School suspensions and temporary cessation of dine-in services at restaurants will take effect starting Sunday, January 31.
